About cloud computing
Cloud computing has the potential to change radically the IT industry, affecting many producers and consumers of products and services. The client-server model caused a seismic shock in the IT industry, creating new businesses and eliminating others who could not understand the change. The same is happening with the current IT industry. New companies are emerging and others will emerge, while traditional enterprises may even disappear. Consequently, is born the possibility to request and obtain IT resources through self-service portals.
The cloud model is based on three basic pillars: virtualization, standardization and automation.
Not always the motivator for adoption of cloud will be economic. In a private cloud, for example, agility and flexibility to meet new services are the main points, although the company needs to spend a lot of resources in hardware and software.
There is potential to reduce costs by standardization and automation, that lowers operational investments. However, the flexibility in obtaining new IT services is the main reason for its adoption.
How about adopting a public cloud?
If the company does not have legacy systems, this will be very simple. This process starts from zero in a cloud environment, without the need to purchase servers and software.
And if there is a legacy?

Software as a Service (SaaS)
Closely connected to cloud computing is the concept of "Software as a Service" (SaaS). In this mode, you just pay by a periodic value - as a signature - only for the resources used and / or the duration of use.
PaaS, DaaS, IaaS and TaaS
The technology market currently works with concepts derived from SaaS, used by some companies to differentiate their services. They are:
Platform as a Service (PaaS): It is a kind of broader solution for certain applications, including all - or nearly all - the resources required for operation, such as storage, database, scalability (automatic increase storage capacity / processing), support for programming languages, security etc.
Database as a Service (DaaS): The name already clarifies that this mode is directed to the provision of services for storing and accessing data volumes. The advantage in this case is that the holder of the application has more flexibility to expand the database, to share information with other systems, to facilitate remote access by authorized users, among other benefits.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): Similar to the concept of PaaS. However, in this case the focus is on the structure of hardware or virtual machines. The user even has access to operating system resources.
Testing as a Service (TaaS): "Testing as a Service". Provides a suitable environment for the user to test applications and systems remotely, simulating the behavior of run-level.
